Each installation has its own accounts and progress. The main button opens this installation; the FreeLingo Cloud link opens the official service.
Frequently Asked Questions
FreeLingo Cloud is the managed service at freelingo.app: create an account and learn without managing a server. With self-hosting, you install and maintain FreeLingo on your infrastructure and configure its AI and voice services. Available capabilities depend on your configuration.
Signup does not require a card. If the installation offers initial Premium access, it starts at registration; afterwards you stay free with usage limits unless you subscribe. A paid subscription starts when you take it out, unless the plan explicitly offers additional trial days. That subscription trial is separate from the initial signup period and requires a payment method.
You need a server, Docker Compose and configured AI and voice services. You handle setup, updates and backups. The AGPL-3.0 software is free; infrastructure and external providers may cost money. Hardware requirements and supported voice languages depend on the providers you choose.
In Cloud, the FreeLingo team manages storage, and AI and voice content is sent to the service's providers for processing. With self-hosting, you control storage and providers: using external AI or voice services sends the relevant content to them. Self-hosting does not automatically mean all processing is local.
English (British and American), Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, French, Japanese, Korean and Mainland Chinese. You can learn several at once, with separate plans and progress for each language.
